Zamst HA1 Plantar Fasciitis Sock Review
By Sam Burridge
Planter Fasciitis (Plan-tar fashee-eye-tis – just call it PF) is a horrible fate for a runner. If you’re not shuddering a the thought of PF because you’re not sure what it is, you can word yourself with an earlier article by clicking here. Here’s a ghoulish outlook:
“One of the most nightmarish running injuries is plantar fasciitis. The acute pain, inability to run, frustrating ebb and flow of symptoms and the difficulty in fixing the problem mash together for a magnificently horrible time.”
Okay, PF is a foot injury. In general it manifests as pain in the heel and it can potentially be highly acute and long lived. Like months and months and months of it.
Enter Zmast, who offer a great little product they say can help relieve some of the pain associated with Plantar Fasciitis – the Zamst HA1 Plantar Fasciitis Sock.
From the outset note that these socks are not meant to cure Plantar Fasciitis. They’re claims are that the socks can aid you in the recovery process by providing additional support in the right areas.
I thankfully don’t suffer from Plantar Fasciitis, so any possible worth from the socks would be lost on me. Thankfully for me, not so much for her, my friend Saroja is suffering and made a far better tester. Saroja is an ex sprinter who recently found a passion for long distance running. After completing her first marathon earlier this year she was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis.
Over to Saroja:
Saroja tested these socks for a number of weeks and provided the following comments:
I do suffer from Planta Fasciitis so was very keen to test these socks.
Wow! What a blessing! I found that these fit very nicely and hold the heel and planta fascia tightly and comfortably. This eased the pain on my feet. These socks are good fitting and it doesn’t slip or slide. I was able to get a size that fitted me well.
When I had some pain recently I put these on and believe it or not, it eased the pain a lot. It has helped me manage the pain and I will be purchasing more of these socks. The socks maintained the tightness even after washing. This will be the only type of socks I’ll be using hereafter.
The main objective of the Zamst HA1 Plantar Fasciitis Sock is to provide heel stability and support the arch of the foot (that’s where you’ll find your plantar fascia).
According to the Zamst website these socks feature:
The Zamst HA-1 Plantar Fasciitis Socks has in built a-Fit technology, which provides anatomically correct support and fit for both the left and right foot. The Zamst HA1’s functional support and unique knitting technology stabilizes the heel in a neutral position and lifts up the arch of the foot to prevent it from leaning inward. This will reduce the stress from repetitive impact on the foot to reduce plantar fasciitis. Flyweight fabrication reduces weight, while V-tech technology enhances ventilation for a comfortable fit.
That’s a fairly confident statement in there from Saroaj for the Zamst socks.. Our tester has been a big fan and can’t fault them in anyway. As a testament to their quality and performance Saroja has since purchased two further pairs.
As mentioned earlier, if you do suffer from Plantar Fasciitis these socks are not the cure, but may help to alleviate the immediate symptoms (pain). We do recommend that you see a specialist to help properly diagnose and mend the underlying problem.
Retailing at $45.95 the Zamst HA1s are priced high, but hey do make an appealing call on easing your foot ache.
